Rescue Me ID: 17-01-29-00149Delilah (female)

Irish Wolfhound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We think Delilah is some type of Irish Wolfhound mix. She looks similar to one but in truth, who really knows. She is VERY sweet and a bit lazy. :) She would rather sleep in her kennel room than go outside to go potty. However, she won't potty in her kennel either. Delilah is good around kids and other dogs but we do believe she might have some food aggression issues with other dogs, doesn't seem to be with humans. When she is eating in her kennel, she will growl when another dog walks by. For safety we always feed in kennels. Delilah is currently in heat so she hasn't been moved to a foster home yet. She is at our main foster's ... (Read More)home who has a small kennel. We are hoping to have her spayed and in a foster home by mid February. weight: approximately 50 pounds age: pending vet visit adoption fee: $200 (Less)

 Adoption Fee: $200 Animal Location:

PIease Read Before Adopting an Irish Wolfhound in Ohio
Irish Wolfhound Dogs can make good pets in Ohio if they match your IifestyIe. The Irish Wolfhound is an enormous dog rivaling the Great Dane in height. Despite its imposing size, the Irish Wolfhound is a gentle, friendly animal that is trustworthy with children. Irish Wolfhounds are friendly with strangers, but may deter intruders simply by their intimidating size. It is important to train an Irish Wolfhound when it is a puppy so that it can be managed as a massive adult. Irish Wolfhounds generally get along well with other pets. This giant breed certainly needs a large yard with a high, secure fence.

Irish Wolfhounds may have been used in arena fighting in the Roman Empire and were said to have been able to take out lions, wolves, wild boar, and armored cavalry! The Irish Wolfhound may have contributed to the extinction of the wolf and wild boar in Ireland. At one time, only royalty were allowed to own Irish Wolfhounds.
